Good to be back

It's good to be back. I've got a renewed sense of purpose now. Being a part of the Kurios ministry has given me the opportunity to grow closer to Jesus; as well, it has reinvigorated my artistic tendencies. And that's always a good thing.

I don't know if anyone reads this or not; but hey, why not keep on keeping on?

It's been one year and nine months since I last posted here. Sheesh. Well, I'm back. Again! Heh.

A lot has happened since I last showed my face around these parts.

Here's a quick rundown:

I graduated college!

Hooray!
Finally...

I moved to Helena, MT
I got a real job with an engineering firm

I work as a designer

I purchased the Adobe CS2 suite!

Always a good thing
It's proven itself over and over

My folks moved to Wisconsin

I was blessed with a wonderful and godly girlfriend

We've been together nearly 11 months now!

I changed apartments

This one is much better

I got involved in a bible study
Said study is a church plant!
After a while I was asked to become a core member of the group!

I accepted
Now I create graphics for the ministry

I got a roommate
I'm finally getting a Wacom tablet!
My folks are moving back this summer!

YAY! :)

I would HIGHLY recommend it if you are going to college, have children who will go to college or are just curious what's reallly going on. If you don't want to buy it I'll loan you mine or buy you one myself. (That is if I know you and you're not some random person on the Internet of course)

A brutally honest look at the reality of college

I just finished reading Ben Shapiro's book and I have to say, as a college senior myself, that he is spot on the money with this work. The rise of social and moral relativism in the culture and on the campus has been, and continues to be, one of the greatest threats America now faces as a sovereign nation.

It's time that level headed people began to combat this societal cancer and do something about the leftist, socialistic, communistic, feministic, and racially bigoted agenda of today’s modern universities.

The naysayer’s to this, and other books like it, have most likely been raised in the prevailing college culture mentioned, and therefore do not have the capability, or at least the willingness, to hold a rational and objective opinion about it. I would implore them to actually open their minds and realize that the real world is much different, and better, than the fantasy land known as higher education.

Oh, and before anyone labels me as an ignorant right wing conservative Republican, and therefore hypothetically ineffectual in the argument, I personally lived through this sort of leftist propaganda and institutionalized thinking regimen. I was one of them.

I eventually saw the error in my ways (it's a little thing called maturity, and a willingness to admit that one can be wrong before they can ever be right). So it's my prayer that others will see through the hyper vitriolic, America hating, sex soaked bombardment that many professors and colleges throw their way. See through the darkness, there is a better way. That way is Jesus Christ not the state. Oh, and by the way, I have in my travels met some decent level headed professors. They’re not all bad and it would be wrong to caricature them as such.

Every person who wants an honest liberal education should read this book and ones like it alongside the already prescribed reading list to truly get both sides of the story.

Normally, I'm a fan of charities and philanthropic ventures like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, but every so often you come across something that makes you wonder what evil is being mixed in with all the good that these organizations are doing (and they are doing quite a bit of good don't get me wrong). This link is just an example of what I am talking about. It makes me sick to think about it honestly.

How can the Gates Foundation say in their values statement, and I quote, "All lives, no matter where they are being led - have equal value." and "To whom much has been given, much is expected."? (Gates Foundation) Yet they support the most egregious act upon a human who has no natural or legal defense to counteract the "treatment" being administered to them for "the good of society" or "the health and well-being of the mother". What about the "health and well-being" of the baby!

First off, if the foundation states that all lives matter and have equal value, then what about those who haven't had the "privilege" of coming out of the womb yet? What about them? Children have been consistently denied their right to life given by God Almighty.

The Gates Foundation is only a symptom of the far greater issue in the world of a slide in to moral relevancy. I realize that much has already been written on this subject, but I am adding my two cents in for what it may be worth.

Every year nearly 46,000,000 children who would have been born and given the chance to see the light of day are systematically murdered and disposed of. That's around 126,000 innocents slaughtered every day! To put that number into perspective, think about it like this: if you got the entire populace of Bozeman, Billings and Helena together and "disposed" of them you would have around the same number of folks out of the way. Now do that every day. Now think about this in comparison, if the tables were turned and people who had the opportunity to be born were taken out at such a rate, the United States alone would cease to exist in a little over 7 years.

So, if "To whom much is given, much is expected" then shouldn't those who are given the opportunity to live be expected to shoulder the responsibility to protect those that have been denied that right? A good place to start looking into all of this would be at the National Right to Life website. They offer a good deal of information into the subject. (Warning: The partial birth abortion animation on the main page is quite graphic, but unfortunately accurate)

Look, I will be the first to say that I believe this not to be a political issue, but a moral and spiritual one. Of course, it has to get political at some point to renege the laws that are already on the books, but that should really be it. The issue shouldn't be used for political posturing or to simply get yourself elected. Abortion is wrong, plain and simple. Abortion is NEVER the answer. I don't really care what argument is thrown at it. Does that make me "insensitive" or "uncaring" about mothers? No. It simply means that I have a position on the issue and strong beliefs to back it up.

If it really was just a hunk of fetal tissue that gained life the moment it came out (that would be magic the only way I can figure) and started crying, then this would be a much different issue. But the facts are clear, and I might add obvious for anyone with a first grade education or higher and half a will to believe it. How anyone sees that a baby isn't alive in the womb is beyond my simple grasp of life.

It's my belief that none of this will ever change for the better unless we, as Christians, begin reaching out in love, instead of derision, to those who are hurting and have had or are considering/performing abortions. It runs the gambit folks, we can't just simply pick and choose who to love and who to hate. Jesus said to love your enemies, he never said we had to like them or adopt their ways. Maybe, if we show the other side a little compassion and our willingness to help, they won't see us as a bunch of radical conservative right-wing bigots (as they like to generally and inaccurately refer to us). We are not permitted to hate those who are connected with abortion. We are, however, commanded to bring them the good news of Jesus Christ. And really, He's the only one who can ever change their minds anyway. Why not introduce them to the better way of life, and help them find a path through the darkness? There is no reason not to, and at least 42,000,000 reasons every year to do so.

Getting supersonic and juggling baby socks

So there I was, getting supersonic while driving in the car, Paul was with me, we were listening to the Family Force 5! Rock on! 'You're life is so symphonic, cause you chose to get supersonic.'
Yah, we cruised the dimly lit streets of the greater metro area of Havre for a bit of rocking out to phat family beats with the bass cranked. Life is good.
Oh yah, we were at Caleb & Mandie's place playing cards before that. Afterward Paul, Caleb and I started hacking the sack around a bit. Once we were all thoroughly bored with that activity Caleb went over and spent time with Mandie while Paul and I looked for things that were the approximate weight and texture of a hacky sack. Can you guess what we found? That's right...Baby socks! Rock on! You know, they actually juggle pretty well.
And that was pretty much the evening.

Moved into a new apartment, got the Internet at home (finally, and oh btw, 8mbit cable, Yeah!), got (back) into EQII, and I still have a job. Life is good. The Past Came Through

I wrote this poem this morning so it's still a bit rough yet I imagine. I found a website today that I had posted poetry on many years ago. I had totally forgotten about it till I accidentally found it now. As I was reading through what I had written so long ago I realized that it was time to update my thoughts on paper. My poetry from before was highly nihilistic in nature, and vitriolic in tone. When I wrote all of those poems I was a die hard atheist. Reading it now is like a shot in the arm from a time past. I hope that this effort conveys an attitude of joy, instead of one of hate and bitter disillusionment.

The past came through, disguised as joy eternal,
An amazing thing in his life he had learned,
Once a hellion so temporal,
Given a grace he could never have earned.

Condemned to die by the powers that be,
Beset with vengeance for all time,
No way out could he see,
It was inconceivable to repay the crime.

A life of wandering had he chosen,
Then One he knew not came knocking at his door,
He made a decision that left him frozen,
When his face hit the floor.

All the options he weighed,
Yet he was mired in sin,
But the Message conveyed,
Left him no choice but giving in.

Through darkness and confusion,
Light slowly filtered in,
With nothing left to support his delusion,
He quietly realized his sin.

Then came the feeling,
That taste of joy with a touch of trembling,
Only through pain is there healing,
For a new man assembling.

Where then it went he did not know,
This sensation he quickly came to cherish,
As soon as it came it seemed to go,
Without it, alone, he felt he would perish.

Then a new thought came to his mind,
What was this thing now inside,
For so long he had been blind,
Now these eyes were opened, and his worlds began to collide.

Latter clashed with present,
And the present prevailed,
His decision upheld by virtuous portent,
Yet the battle kept raging, as his perimeters were assailed.

The war he now fought was always his own,
But up until now, his enemy was not concerned with this man,
He had always believed without question what he was shown,
Yet now this man was a part of a greater plan.

The enemy broke loose and shuddered in fear,
As the Maker came down and entered this fellow,
You could see the edges of his brow sear,
As he proved his true color of yellow.

True joy came to the man that day,
He held his new place of position,
No matter what any would say,
Finally, he would see the benefit of a good decision.

A gift freely given can not easily be taken away,
A portion of grace taken lightly is no grace at all,
It is our honor to obey,
The grace given after our own fall.

This man who once lived a life of sin,
Was captured at the highest price,
And has now entered in,
Only by the grace of God, in Christ.

Ok, this is a serious one folks,

My aunt Jencie was just stricken with a case of viral meningitis after a sinus operation went bad. Her husband, Alex, got her to the hospital just in time. He found her delirious and incoherent. The doctor said that if she'd gotten there an hour later she'd have died. She is in intensive as I write this and I really really need the prayers of all the saints out there on this one! I know you don't know her personally, but please, please keep her in your prayers until she is better. For reference, this is my father's sister we're talking about.

Bored in class

Hey all,

How's life treating you? Post some comments and leave me some feedback. Love mail, hate mail, it's all the same, at least there's something in the box.

Anyhow, just sitting in the lab waiting for stuff to happen. My next class is cancelled. Yep, just more of the same today. Church was great this weekend and I had a good time at Caleb and Mandies last night (doing laundry, seriously a I give a big thanks to you guys) even though we could never quite get Battlefield 2 to work all that well.

Awesome Concert!

Disciple!

Oh Yeah! Some of my friends, including the ineffable Paul, and I went to the Hearts of the Innocent tour recently. It was amazing. Best rock concert I've been to in, well, since forever really. It was a whole lot of fun. Probably my favorite Christian hard rock band was there, Disciple! And, as you can see, they were gracious enough to sign the poster I was so gracious enough to pay three bucks for. Oh Yeah!

Alongside Disciple we got to see Stellar Kart, Falling Up and Kutless! No complaints there. Bought a cd from each, heh 3 from Kutless I admit, and had everyone sign their respective copies. Oh Yeah!

I don't think I've danced so hard in all of my life. It's been nearly four days since the concert and my muscles still ache. Oh, it was worth it all right. Thank God for opportunities to worship that involve losing blood flow to your brain, on occasion :)

Anyhow, what I was getting at, before the thing crashed on me, was that I was recently privileged to be the guinea pig for a friend of mine. She needed someone to pose for photos for her senior project in photography. Humble me jumped at the opportunity of course. :)

Hey, good photos are hard to come by when you're working on a college budget. Anyway, they turned out great IMHO. I'll be posting them as I can. That girl can take anything, even me it seems, and make it look good on film. Well, she uses digital I guess but who's quibbling.

Sadly, I've found myself, on more than one occasion so far, desiring to hit ctrl+s to save this page. Arrgh... Oh the frustrations (sarcasm).

I'm a drafter by trade, atm, and I work with AutoCAD and other such programs. I've been so conditioned to save every 45 seconds or so that it can even creep into something like this. Weird. Yah, I know, who cares. Hehe. Well, it's fun in my world k'.

Isn't weird kind of a weird word? I mean, think about it. If 'I' comes after 'E', except after 'C', then weird is most definitely breaking some sort of cosmological constant, or some such scientifical thing as that. Ask a scientist, they know everything (sarcasm again, hah, imagine that).
